Find the cause first
Heating problems have more than one possible cause: a failing pump, trapped air, a faulty valve or a genuinely sludged-up system can all produce similar symptoms. We look at what you are describing and the system itself before advising whether power flushing is worthwhile. If a different, cheaper repair is the better option, we will say so.
What power flushing actually does
Power flushing uses a pump to force a fast-moving, chemically-treated flow of water through the radiators and pipework, breaking down and removing the black sludge (magnetite) and debris that restrict circulation and reduce radiator performance. It is not a cure for every fault, which is exactly why diagnosis comes first.
Signs your system may need attention
Radiators that are cold at the bottom but warm at the top, rooms that take longer to heat than they used to, banging or gurgling noises, and a boiler that short-cycles or is noisier than it was are all worth mentioning when you call.
Radiators and system performance
If rooms stay cold or radiators do not heat evenly, tell us what you have noticed, which radiators are affected and how long it has been happening. That is enough for us to start narrowing down the likely cause before we arrive.
A typical power flush usually takes up to a day. We recommend a magnetic filter is fitted to every system, so sludge is less likely to come back once the system is clean.

Frequently asked questions
No. We assess the system first because other faults — pumps, valves, trapped air — can cause similar symptoms and need a different fix.
